I Wonder If My Neighbor Knows...

I Wonder If My Neighbor Knows...

I deeply apologize for not posting once a week as I promised. I have been so busy writing outside, I LOVE summertime! I have found this summer to be extremely productive. I know some writers take the summer off, but it's honestly my most productive time of year. Being outside in nature, whether it's sitting on my back porch or perched around a campfire, I am always inspired.

I'd love to take a moment and tell you about my back porch. We live in the middle of town. I have a private school on one side of me and railroad tracks on the other side. It is not a quiet area. The noise used to bother me, but now, unless I am recording, I don't really notice it. Between the tractor-trailer trucks, the train, and the traffic, there is no peace, but I make the best of it. I can look out over my backyard and find inspiration in the silliest of places.

The willow tree in this photo, for instance, was inspiration for the cover of my book, EMBER. And the home in this picture... Well, let's just say, I often wonder if my neighbors know about the tragedies that unfold in their back room... Behind the shutters and thick paned glass, can they hear the cries and feel the terror... I wonder if they know of the missing girl, the new bride, the unsuspecting victim trapped in their home.

Stay tuned for my next book, IRIS!
